uh oh spaghetti-o

so. cusco is being totally socked by rain and disaster. the train to machu picchu is closed because a landslide  knocked out the tracks.

my bus was canceled, and i was rerouted to arequipa, which is where manue and tom were BEFORE they left for cusco last night.

i now have a ticket to go on an overnight bus to get to them,  but i´m a little afraid of the conditions of cusco.

anyone have any thoughts or ideas? can you do some research state side and give me a heads up? ahhh i need to hear from manue. my bus is scheduled to leave at 8pm tonight, the second overnight bus in two days. CRAZY I TELL YOU.

  1. hey hill - from my super brief research i have found out that there's a state of emergency declared in cusco. this was as of yesterday though, so i'm not sure if the travel to/from is better today (sounds like it if you got a ticket there?)the report i read said that trains and planes weren't flying in or out. no ideas since i have no since of the geography, but hopefully you will be able to get in touch with manue. good luck and keep us posted!

  3. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5iSRS6MyTvOaCclyqLKC6LKXqa5XA here is a connection to current situation in Cusco. My advice would be to meet Manue and Tom somewhere else. Screw the bus ticket. Love, Mom.

  4. If you read my e-mail, then you would not go.
Why put yourself at risk? If you want to help in the disaster, where will you slept,
leave your worldly good and wat will you eat?
No way out once you are in.
    That's it, your call.
